Core programs, serve over 3,000 annually, bring real-world conflict resolution to current contemporary societal issues through "boots on the ground" evidence-based practical approaches. One CommunityUSA is seeking funding to support and expand three key strategic community-building programs:
Shop Talk (Barber Shop Outreach Program) – seeks to create strong, trusting and supportive relationships between African-American shop owners, their customers, area youth and first responders. The program builds bridges of trust, educates, empowers, advances racial equity and encourages neighborhood stabilization, revitalization & economic development (jobs).
UNA Comunidad (Barber Shop and Community Centers Outreach Program) – seeks to improve communication and building trust between the Latino community, business owners, their customers and frontline first responders. Through education and empowerment, the dynamics of the program lead to constructive dialogue, changes in attitudes, improved quality of life and economic development.
Pathways to H.O.P.E. (Helping Offenders Pursue Excellence) Reentry, Diversion and Restorative Justice Program – servicing military Veterans and returning citizens into Dallas and Tarrant Counties Programming consists of a 40-hour ‘inside the walls’ classroom based on PreVocational and WorkForce Readiness component followed by an 18-month ‘outside the wall’ Journey Home Vocational and Leadership program, including a Restorative Justice module.
