TEXAS GREAT PYRENEES RESCUE receives urgent pleas for help every day about Great Pyrenees dogs who have been dumped by the roadside or left to an uncertain future in local shelters. Sometimes, desperate owners who can no longer care for their Pyr contact us and beg us for help so that they don't have to send their dog to a shelter. Dogs come to our foster homes with broken legs, broken hearts, heartworm disease, fear, and sadness. Some are just babies still with their mothers and others are adults who have been abandoned near the end of their life. Our foster volunteers embrace them in their own families and help them to heal and feel secure again. Meantime, other TGPR volunteers work to review the applications from people who are looking for a "gentle giant" to share their lives. In time, we match excellent adopters with Great Pyrs who need a loving home. You can help us to continue this mission. We are 100% volunteer-run. Every dollar donated goes to help these wonderful dogs. Here are some suggested amounts and what they will buy:
$10: Microchips for 2 dogs
$25: Parvo/distemper vaccine for one dog
$50: Heartworm preventative for 3 dogs for a month
$100: Spay or neuter operation for one dog
$150: X-rays to determine broken bone or hip deformity
$800: Heartworm disease treatment
$3,000-$5,500: Orthopedic surgery for crushed bones, cruciate ligament tears, hip deformity
EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS! Thank you for your generosity!
Our Needs
Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue is in need of fosters and volunteers! Additionally, we need continued funds to be able to provide vet services, emergency care, training and medications to our foster dogs. The rescue is always accepting donations of collars, leashes, bedding, toys, dog bowls, etc.
