For more than 50 years, Dallas Area Fiber Artists (DAFA) has united North Texas artists with backgrounds in all fiber media, including art quilting, embroidery, weaving, felting, needlework, and mixed media. Its members have won national and international competitions and together they work to educate, inspire, and promote fiber arts across North Texas.
With your generous financial support, the organization will be able to continue and expand its educational efforts, community service, and arts outreach in the North Texas community. Our mission consists of:
-
Art workshops, classes, and seminars: We bring nationally known speakers to Dallas to present art programs to members and the public.
-
Arts education outreach: We help teach fiber art to students of all ages by sponsoring and funding teachers.
-
Direct support to Texas classrooms: Our organization and members furnish art class supplies and books to local schools, from the elementary level to university level.
-
Community service projects and in-kind response to urgent appeals: Each year our members create countless fiber-based pieces to donate directly to local charities and hospitals. These include baby blankets, healthcare masks, chemotherapy caps, Alzheimer’s fidget blankets, and many other projects that benefit the local community.
-
Art shows and exhibitions: Dallas Area Fiber Artists holds competitions, challenges, and exhibitions that promote the work of established and up-and-coming North Texas artists.
