In 1998, five women came together with a desire to serve women coming out of crisis. More than 25 years later, Dallas Christian Women's Job Corps (DCWJC) continues to empower women who are transitioning out of crisis or desiring a new start in life after being deprived of education, skills, and confidence.
As we expand our services and ability to better serve the women who walk through our doors, our continued goal is to be a place of respite and hope, as we help meet the overwhelming needs of the 75228 community and surrounding areas.
Our core Workforce Readiness and Life Skills Program (WRLS), serves women who are one step out of a crisis, i.e., exiting incarceration, transitioning out of homelessness, recovering from drug addiction, recently widowed, and/or in need of enhanced skills to re-enter the job market. This program contains three cornerstones: Bible Study to help each woman build a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; Job Skills Training including: computer skills, resume writing, interview skills, goal planning and time management; and Life Skills Training including: parenting/relationship building, communication skills, conflict resolution, budgeting, and nutrition. In addition, our participants are partnered with a mentor who walks along side them for 3 months and guides them toward meeting their stated goals. We also have a modified version of WRLS that we conduct online for women incarcerated at Dallas County Jail.
Most recently we have added programs that create a pathway to our WRLS program, including an English Learning Lab where participants can improve their English fluency and a pre-WRLS program where participants master their fluency while they participate in a portion of our WRLS program. Additionally we have supplemental WorkSmart summer sessions which focus on topics such as budget planning, time management, using online graphic design tools, career coaching, creating a professional resume using Word, and repairing credit. Beginning in September, we will also provide our women the opportunity to get their GED, a critical component in their quest for employment.
Through the generosity of donors like YOU, Dallas Christian Women's Job Corps continues to provide women with Hope and a Future.
