Doodle Dandy Rescue is an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to rescue Doodle Dogs in crisis. While we are based in the DFW area, we have satellite groups in Austin, Houston and SanAntonio, allowing us to rescue doodle dogs all over this great state. Over 1000 active volunteers including fosters, volunteers, trainers and veterinary service teams provide a lifeline for abandoned and abused Doodles in Texas. Our loyal corps of volunteers monitors shelter admissions and responds quickly when notified about Doodles in need of rescue. They secure release from the shelter, many of which are high kill, and provide temporary care until the dog can be placed with foster families. Once in foster care, dogs receive medical assessment and treatment, grooming and behavioral training as they transition from traumatized to secure.
Our rehoming program provides support and assistance to families who have life changes that require them to re-home their dog. DDR is the bridge of care for these families and the dogs they must leave behind. In just over six years, Doodle Dandy Rescue has provided a lifeline for over 1300 Doodles. Many of the dogs that we rescue come in with behavioral issues. Often, these dogs are overlooked or passed up due to the time commitment and financial investment that is required to support these dogs and get them ready for adoption. Because we have great professional trainers we work with as well as knowledgeable volunteers, we have been successful in finding most of these dogs forever homes. We do have a few dogs whose issues are more complex, and they continue to work with our trainers in resident programs to desensitize them to the traumas they have endured. Doodle Dandy does not give up! Through July of 2024 we have already tripled our expense for dog training over all of 2023. These dogs need and deserve our help!
Our Needs
We are one of the few rescues who truly rehab our dogs with in-house trainers and board and train options. Training is a huge expense for our rescue , and we are hoping that the funds from NTGD will allow us to take in more dogs with behavioral issues so they can be rescued from euthanasia, rehabbed and adopted into forever homes. We have helped several severely injured and ill dogs this year resulting in 10 expensive surgeries and ER visits. We've given sight to a blind dog, mobility to two dogs with a crushed legs, prevented death because of Bloat and many other critical cases. Your donation allow us to say "YES" to help these dogs.
