Habitat 4 Paws, a 501(c)(3) animal rescue, is dedicated to securing forever homes for dogs and cats through a foster program, ensuring the animals well-being during the transition to adoption.
Our Story
Habitat 4 Paws (H4P) was founded and received 501c3 status in December of 2010. In 2011, we began fundraising for our medical care fund and launched Paws Pantry, a pet food bank to help shelters, rescue groups and individuals in need of food for pets.
Over the years, we’ve launched our fostering program with just a handful of fosters and began rescuing pets from local animal control facilities. We’ve placed over 1,700 rescued animals in homes since we started, and continue to grow and thrive. Our goal is to one day acquire and operate an adoption facility in the Frisco area (or nearby) and invite community participation in order to benefit rescued animals.
What your gift will do for our rescue
Your generous contribution to aid Habitat 4 Paws mission extends a lifeline to dogs and cats within our community facing an urgent need for shelter, food, minor and major medical attention, and the chance to discover everlasting affectionate homes. As a community, we're collectively forging a more compassionate world for beloved pets and the individuals who cherish them deeply.
The mission of H4P is to rescue and find permanent homes for dogs and cats while caring for them in a foster-based program with our rescue oriented partners. Beyond sheltering animals, we also want to be proactive in other areas, with the goal to keep animals out of municipal shelters. For example, Paws Pantry collects and distributes dog and cat food to any shelter or individual in need.
Our first priority is to increase the H4P emergency medical fund by $10,000. Summertime is when shelters experience the highest intake and overcrowding. H4P incurs approximately $750 a month in emergency medical expenditures. Typically these are treatments for issues such as parvo/distemper, heartworm, ringworm, mange and various life-threatening surgeries. Our emergency medical fund allows us to rescue animals that need special treatments or deal with unexpected surgeries or medical care before animals find their forever family. It also enables H4P to save older cats and dogs, who experience higher rates of euthanasia due to increased risk of impending medical expenses.
Our second priority is to increase our general fund by $25,000 to enable H4P to meet our goal of 250 lives saved by year-end. This general fund goes to support rescue expenditures such as spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and boarding costs when a foster family is not available. Other general expenses include microchipping, pet food, crates and other pet supplies. We estimate each rescue averages $400 in basic expenditures. Our budget timeline is ideally to have funds in place by the end of the calendar year in order to address overcrowding during the following year’s summer months and surges seen at shelters as the holiday season arrives.
