Mid-Cities Animal Rescue is a nonprofit corporation, organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes -- specifically to:

  1. Rescue animals from local animal shelters, focusing on "Code Red" (at-risk and injured) animals in need of immediate attention;
  2. Educate the public on the importance of Spay & Neuter programs and all the low-cost options available in our community.

We further our purposes under this program by conducting the following activities: We rescue unwanted, abandoned, injured, or ill companion animals -- primarily from "high kill" shelters and owner surrenders. We place these animals in foster homes where they can receive proper veterinary care, rehabilitation, and rest in order to prepare them to go to their forever homes. Our intention is to work within our community and educate pet owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their companion animals in order to assist with the reduction of unwanted animals. We will also focus on programs that educate both our community and potential adopters on the fact that animals are a lifelong commitment -- and to help them realistically prepare for that commitment.

We partner with a couple of Wisconsin and Minnesota rescues that take an additional 5-15 dogs every year which we pull from euthanasia lists from local shelters and transport to up north to live out wonderful lives. We have working to several other northern partners that allow us to save a few more animals.

COVID changed our operation completely! Suddenly we were placing more and more animals per year. The need is incredibly high, and we have expanded our services to education, coming up with solutions so people can keep their pets such as providing advice, offering low-cost vetting or vetting sponsorship, providing lists of dog friendly apartments and rentals, fundraising for a pet deposit and/or providing crates, offering behavioral training and supplies as needed.

We will begin to hold adoption events at local breweries and local pet stores as COVID allows; this gives our animals the opportunity to be seen, and it allows us to interface with the public so that we may share our awareness programs (i.e., Spay & Neuter commitment) to the animals they take into their homes.

We do 10+ major surgeries every year, fund 40+ heartworm treatments and rehab and nurse many dogs back to health. This doesn't include all the basic vaccinations and spay/neuters that we provide for every dog that comes through our rescue. We will always have a selection of puppies, young adults, adults and senior animals for adoption.

We will provide assistance within our means to anyone that contacts us.

Mission

Mid-Cities Animal Rescue dedicated to rescuing unwanted, abandoned, injured, or ill companion animals -- primarily from "high kill" shelters throughout Texas and owner surrenders as room permits. We will also focus on programs that educate both our community and potential adopters on the fact that animals are a lifelong commitment -- and to help them realistically prepare for that commitment which includes educating on the importance of timely vaccinations as well as monthly heartworm preventative. We share all the low-cost options available in our community.

Needs

We need to continue to fund our surgery and vetting fund and need an income stream to supplement our food and daily supplies for fosters. Monthly donations would be much appreciated as would food donations.

1) Need assistance with social media both Facebook and Instagram

2) Need assistance in setting up and breaking down at adoption events and walking dogs throughout the event.

3) Need clerical assistance upload paperwork to the website as well as to provide paperwork to adopters.

4) Need funds to consistently fund our surgery and vaccination fund.
