88.9 KETR has adopted a strategic development plan of achieving and maintaining fiscal sustainability. Through financial sustainability, 88.9 KETR will be a dependable source of news, information, entertainment, and more to our Northeast Texas community. Around this 'fiscal sustainability' corner are myriad improvements we can't wait to implement. We've identified options to improve our signal and service to more of Lamar and Fannin counties which will require some resource, but will promote our mission in our primary service region. We're currently in the process of retiring an old and outdated audio delivery infrastructure at our studio complex, and the high-efficiency, high-tech replacement will also allow the up-and-coming broadcasters who learn here to utilize state-of-the-art equipment and methods. We've got some very skilled journalists and interns in our newsroom who are chomping at the bit to develop specialized local beats here in our community and some very good suggestions coming from the region about ideas for developing additional meaningful local programming, and we're looking forward to being able to put necessary resources behind those efforts. We know where we'd like to go next, and all roads forward lead to a more meaningful over-the-air and online service to the thousands and thousands of Northeast Texans who consume our content each and every week. The mission and vision of this 42 years-and-counting public radio station has been made possible in Northeast Texas because of the generosity of listeners, members, business supporters, and the community as a whole. Reliable, sustainable support from the community that 88.9 KETR serves is absolutely vital and is what will pave the way toward reaching the fiscal sustainability needed to achieve our goals in the years to come.
