The mission of the All Stars Project is to transform the lives of youth and poor communities using the developmental power of performance, in partnership with caring adults.
ASP of Dallas is requesting support to help sustain our core leadership training and performance-approach programs, the Development School for Youth (DSY) and the All Stars Talent Show Network (ASTSN), as well as our police-community relations partnership program with the Dallas Police Department's (DPD) Police Activities League (PAL) called, Cops & Kids: A New Performance of Police-Community Relations in Dallas.
In the DSY, inner-city youth learn to perform as professionals, and they partner with business leaders who conduct workshops and provide paid summer internships. In ASTSN, young people perform in and produce community building hip-hop talent shows in their neighborhoods.
Cops & Kids in Dallas is an expansion of the All Stars' award winning and performance-based police-community relations program called, Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids, which was first created in 2006 by ASP co-founder, Dr. Lenora Fulani in the wake of the shooting of Sean Bell in NYC. The program uses performance, improvisation, and conversation to help inner-city teenagers and police officers develop a positive relationship.
