Canine Companions for Independence

Canine Companions for Independence is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs, free of charge and offers ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.
Canine Companions for Independence opened our new Kinkeade training center in North Texas to train and place highly trained assistance dogs, free of charge, for people with a broad range of disabilities. The unique relationship we create between canine and human partners leads to increased independence, self-esteem and inclusion for a person with a disability. Supported solely by charitable donations, we can continue to provide Service dogs to assist adults including veterans with physical disabilities; Skilled Companions to enhance independence for children with physical, cognitive or developmental disabilities; Facility dogs to work with trained therapists, special education and other professionals who work with individuals with disabilities.
