CASA of Denton County, Inc.

The mission of CASA of Denton County is to provide trained community volunteers, to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children, and to promote community awareness about child abuse issues.
The Need In 2016, CASA of Denton County volunteers advocated for the best interests of 583 children. While this number is significant, it represents only 94% of Denton County children in need. It is our vision to provide a CASA for each and every child who needs one. Your support can help bring us one step closer to making that vision a reality. The Children Children who, through no fault of their own, have come into a scary and confusing world of lawyers, judges, caseworkers and foster homes. They deserve a hero's voice in court that speaks for their best interests, people who are consistently there for them, and a safe home where they can thrive. The Volunteers One of the most unique things about CASA is that we use volunteers in nearly every aspect of the agency's work. Volunteers are at the heart of our organization - we simply could not do what we do without them. From a one-time volunteer experience to the one-year commitment of working a case as a volunteer advocate, there are so many ways to make a difference in the lives of the abused and neglected children we serve. Whatever your skill set may be and whatever time you may have to give, we have a role at CASA that you can fill. CASA Advocates do the difficult work of investigating a child's situation in foster care, monitoring their home and school life while in the child welfare system and, ultimately, making a recommendation to the courts as to where a child should call home when their case is closed. Their task is not easy, short-term, or for the faint of heart and yet they volunteer their time, their resources, and - often - their own emotional well-being to ensure that the children we serve receive the best possible chance at a bright future. The Outcomes The long-term effects of a CASA volunteer are just as remarkable - less overall expense for the foster care system; fewer teens on the streets; and lower rates of incarceration among former foster youth. We need everyday heroes like you to achieve these outcomes year after year.
