Commerce Public Library

The Commerce Public Library operates a free public library, provides materials in all formats which contribute to the informational and recreational needs of the community and collects and preserves archival materials related to the history of Commerce and the surrounding areas. The Library provides public access to internet connected computers and an Adult Literacy Program through which tutoring is provided for English as a Second Language learners, those needing assistance with basic adult literacy skills and those wishing to prepare for the GED test. Programming to promote literacy is provided for all ages from preschool through adults.
The Commerce Public Library is constantly struggling to provide basic library services to the community of Commerce and the surrounding area. Faced with a 25 percent reduction in city funding in 2012, the library depends more and more on the generous donations of supporters of libraries and reading.
