Our mission is to create jobs and to promote quality of life and independence for blind and visually impaired people of North Texas. All we do, all business that we attract, all support we receive is directed to achieving this mission and to sustaining the ability to deliver services to the blind and visually impaired and all others who need us.
There are currently 150,000 residents of North Texas who are blind or visually impaired. Population growth within the 11 counties that we serve will cause our client base to double over the next 10 years. Our need is great and growing!
Every $300 - $350 provides one senior an in-home visit from the Serving Our Seniors Program (SOS) providing a low vision appropriate consultation and free assistive technology tools that allow a low vision or blind senior greater independent living.
Every $500 - $3,500 provides adaptive computer tools & equipment for those who cannot afford their own equipment.
Every $5,000 - $6,000 provides one visually impaired person assistive technology & computer training (8-12 weeks) that will enable independent living and job placement.
Every $8,000 can provide orientation & mobility training for one blind or visually impaired person so that they can gain confidence traveling independently (12 weeks of training).
Every $10,000 can provide training in our textiles program or call center program that can lead to meaningful employment and an improved quality of life for people who are blind or visually impaired.
