Daughters of the American Revolution- McKinney Chapter

The organization was founded in 1890 with the mission of promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. These timeless, overarching principles keep the DAR strong and vitally relevant in this ever-changing world.
Veterans The generous donations received through North Texas Giving Day will be used to help local McKinney Veterans in several ways: -We collect items to donate to our active duty military and families - We recognize the service of our Veterans. Recently we have partnered with the McKinney Armed Forces Memorial Board to sponsor remembrance events and ceremonies, such as our recent WWI Wreath Laying ceremony. -We provide patches and pins to Veterans -We attend Honor Flights at the airport -We are working toward setting up a new program- a ride share for Veterans to Bonham Hospital -Project Patriot-DAR digitally indexes and collects Veterans' relations to the Revolutionary War EDUCATION: -We teach local schoolchildren about the flag and the Constitution -We recognize students for their achievements -We award scholarships to local children COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT - We plan and participate in ceremonies celebrating our Nation's commemorative events, including Memorial Day, Veterans Day and the Fourth of July. -We work to restore local historic areas -We assist recent immigrants studying for their citizenship exams with the DAR Manual for Citizenship
