Gift of Adoption - Texas Chapter

To inspire adoption by providing grants to qualified parents - giving children who need families a permanent home and a chance to thrive.
Today, you can bring a parentless child one step closer to a family for life. When you donate, you're transforming the life of a child and giving him or her the love, dignity and hope that comes from being part of a family. Gift of Adoption focuses on: - preventing siblings from being separated - prioritizing children with critical medical needs - avoiding children aging out of orphanages - preempting foster care Your gift will make an immediate and profound impact in a child's life by helping his or her awaiting family complete the adoption process. No gift is too small. When you support Gift of Adoption, you open doors to education for children; support their social, emotional and physical development; promote the sense of love and security that all children should feel; and instill hope for their future. 140 million children worldwide are orphaned and in desperate need of a family to call their own. That is equal to half the population of the United States - and they are all under the age of 18. 500,000 children in the U.S. foster care system await adoption; 10% of those children have been waiting to be adopted for over 3 years. Once in foster care, on average, a child waits 5 years to be adopted. For every month in an orphanage, a child can lose as much as 3 months of normal developmental advancement. An astounding 80% of the U.S. prison population comprises adults who were in the foster care system sometime during their childhood. About 9 out of 10 children in foster care will experience mental illness. Almost 4 of 10 will commit crimes and 30% will ultimately become homeless. Just 2% of children who age out of the foster care system go on to get a college education. The Gift of Adoption Fund does not consider an applicant's marital status, gender, race, creed, national origin, religion, age, or sexual orientation when reviewing applications. The Local Need Our goal is to raise $3500, which will help complete the adoption of one child into a loving, local Texas home.
