Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas

The mission of Girl Scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts is the world's premier leadership development organization dedicated solely to girls, where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, they build character and skills for real world success.
The Gift of Girl Scouting. Every girl should have the chance to benefit from Girl Scouting. Girl Scouts Community Programs offers a free leadership program that provides the authentic Girl Scout experience for girls in low-income Dallas communities where a lack of volunteers, transportation, and financial resources are often difficult to establish. By offering Girl Scouting during and after school; providing membership, uniforms, and supplies free-of-charge; and compensating part-time Program Delivery Specialists to lead the troops, we eliminate the barriers to participation for girls in Title 1 schools. STEM Programming at the STEM Center of Excellence. Girls experience STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in new and exciting ways at the STEM Center of Excellence. Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas is changing the workforce pipeline in STEM careers. Girl Scout STEM programming serves 10,000 girls in Northeast Texas and empowers 2,500 volunteers to guide girls in quality STEM experiences, provide immersive workshops led by subject matter experts, and helps girls better understand the need for STEM education and STEM career choices. Volunteer Engagement, Recruitment and Training: The success of our programs is made possible with the help of over 5,000 adult mentors and volunteers that introduce girls to new experiences that show them they're capable of more than they ever imagined. The GSNETX robust, multi-modal volunteer training program offers a series of training modules, consisting of over 15 courses. These trainings encourage and empower volunteers to guide their troop through their Girl Scout Leadership Experience. More often than not our volunteers are adults who come from professions outside of education, and as such, our traditional troop leader trainings focus heavily on practices and methods for working effectively with youth in grades K - 12.
