Founded in 1993, the James L. West Alzheimer Center is the only 501(c) (3) nonprofit, long term care residential, respite care, and day program in Fort Worth fully licensed for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The Center serves persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, and their families, in a compassionate, spiritual environment. The Center also provides free Caregiver Training to families and community groups.
The James L. West Center provides free Caregiver Training to members of the Metroplex community whose lives have been changed by Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia through family or friends. We also provide classes dealing with stress as a caregiver and welcome the public to seminars and lectures by experts in all aspects of dementia care. These resources are funded through generous gifts from foundations, businesses and individuals. We could not offer these services to so many people free of charge without the support of the community.
