Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of North Texas is a 501(c) (3) charitable nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of abandoned, abused and neglected schnauzers and schnauzer mixes. Our schnauzers come primarily from high kill city and rural shelters in North and East Texas and from owners who are no longer able to care for their pets. We have been in operation since 2004 and since that time have rescued and found forever homes for over 1475 miniature schnauzers. As part of our mission, we work to educate the public and potential adopters regarding humane, responsible animal care and ownership as well as the special requirements and nuances of the breed.
MONEY: We have high standards for the level of care our animals receive on a daily basis and we believe that our results we speak for themselves. We have no paid staff, and the majority of our volunteers have been with our organization for over 8 years. 100% of the money we raise is used for the direct care of our miniature schnauzers. We have repaired broken legs, treated our rescues for heartworm, removed cataracts, treated severe skin infections and sent dogs with behavioral issues to professional training. Once a dog is in our program, we spare no expense, to ensure he/she has the best possible chance at a happy and healthy life. In 2015, we spent on average $778 on each dog getting them prepared for adoption. Our adoption fee covers about 30% of what we actually spend on our schnauzers. Without the donations, we would have to close our doors to the schnauzers that need us most.
