The mission of the Northeast Texas Children's Museum is to inspire imagination, enhance creativity and build confidence in children. We will accomplish the mission of the Northeast Texas Children's Museum by investing in hands-on, minds-on opportunities for children to engage in activities that will strengthen their intellect and prepare them for a future of competition and collaboration in the world. As the only children's museum in northeast Texas, the Northeast Texas Children's Museum strives to reach children from all over the area. Our exhibits provide entertainment and inspiration to our visitors and encourage creativity through dress-up and imitation. We host field trips from over all over the northeast Texas area and offer several fun and educational activities during the summer.
The Northeast Texas Children's Museum will lose our current building on September 1, 2018. We are currently undergoing a campaign to raise funds for a new building in Commerce, TX.
The Children’s Museum has leased an old cafeteria built in 1964 from Texas A&M University-Commerce (TAMUC) for ten years, but the building will no longer be available next fall. Problems began with the loss of the heating element in January and while TAMUC furnished temporary heat for the winter, it was determined that the building did not warrant the expense of replacing the heat.
NETXCM is still faced with the challenge of raising funds a new building. A new building can cost as much as $2,000,000. It is our goal to raise this money through the generosity of individuals, businesses, and corporations.
