Operation Homefront

Operation Homefront's mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront's vision is to be the provider of choice for short-term and critical assistance, long-term stability and recurring support programs to military families. We accomplish our mission and vision through a range of impactful programs that provide relief, resiliency and recurring family support, designed to prevent short-term challenges from becoming chronic, long-term struggles. We provide relief through financial assistance and transitional housing programs, resiliency through permanent housing and caregiver programs and recurring family support through a variety of specialty programs. Each year, Operation Homefront serves tens of thousands of military families nationwide. Since inception, we have provided over $21 million in financial aid, fulfilling nearly 37,000 requests for critical financial assistance for those who had difficulty paying their mortgage, rent, grocery, utility, or repair bills; and rent-free temporary housing to more than 500 families of wounded service members, saving them over $5-million in rent and utilities. We have matched nearly 600 military families with mortgage-free homes, providing well over $56-million in deeded value and supported over 3,200 caregivers through peer-to-peer support groups. We have provided over 215,000 holiday toys and holiday meals for nearly 70,000 families, and back-to-school supplies for well over a quarter-million military children. This year, we earned Charity Navigator's prestigious 4-star rating for the tenth consecutive year, a platinum rating from Guidestar and have just been certified by the Better Business Bureau as meeting all 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
