Donations to the SPCA of Texas on North Texas Giving Day will support the organization’s lifesaving work with pets, giving them the care and attention they need and finding them their forever homes. The SPCA of Texas is the leading animal welfare organization in North Texas. Founded in 1938, the non-profit operates two animal care and adoption centers, three low-cost wellness and spay/neuter clinics, a mobile spay/neuter clinic and an animal rescue center, all located in Dallas and Collin Counties, and maintains a team of animal cruelty investigators who respond to thousands of calls in seven North Texas counties. Moreover, the SPCA of Texas serves as an active resource center for an array of services that bring people and animals together to enrich each other’s lives.
More than 50,000 people and their pets are impacted by SPCA of Texas programs and services annually. In 2016, the SPCA of Texas found homes for 5,617 pets. Staff veterinarians met with 21,913 wellness clients and performed 14,785 spay/neuter surgeries for clients' pets and shelter pets. The Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit investigated 3,006 reports of cruelty or neglect and rescued 2,290 animals. The Humane Education Department’s programs educated 41,803 attendees.
The SPCA of Texas is not affiliated with any other entity and does not receive general operating funds from the City of Dallas, State of Texas, federal government or any other national humane organization.
