Donations to the SPCA of Texas on North Texas Giving Day will support the organization’s lifesaving work rescuing, healing and finding homes for thousands of pets. The SPCA of Texas is the leading animal welfare organization in North Texas whose work impacts more than 50,000 people and pets annually. Founded in 1938, the non-profit operates two animal care and adoption centers (5,617 adoptions in 2016), three low-cost wellness and spay/neuter clinics (21,913 wellness clients, 14,785 spay/neuter surgeries in 2016), mobile spay/neuter clinics and an animal rescue center, all located in Dallas and Collin Counties, and maintains a team of animal cruelty investigators who respond to thousands of calls in seven North Texas counties (3,006 reports of animal cruelty investigated, 2,290 animals rescued in 2016). The Humane Education Department’s programs educated 41,803 attendees and more than 1,400 volunteers gave more than 68,000 hours of their time to help animals. The SPCA of Texas’ array of programs and services bring people and animals together to enrich each other’s lives. The organization is not affiliated with any other entity and does not receive general operating funds from the City of Dallas, State of Texas, federal government or any other national humane group.
