To provide innovative, environmentally focused education to engage and empower scholars to become tomorrow's global change agents.
The mission of the Trinity Environmental Academy (TriEA) is to provide an innovative, community-based environmentally focused education to engage and empower scholars to become tomorrow's global change agents. Located on the Paul Quinn College campus, TriEA is part of the first public charter/private college partnership in the state and the only environmentally focused school in the region. TriEA serves a 93 percent economically disadvantaged student population, which is 79 percent African American and 18 percent Hispanic/Latino.
The vision of TriEA is to serve as a community hub for families through partnerships and events that engage the citizens of Dallas and our neighborhood of Highland Hills to support their community and its schools. To date, our educational model has demonstrated the benefits of environmentally focused, STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) education as a tool for increasing student engagement in learning, helping scholars become more effective, high-achieving learners, and enhancing inventiveness and creativity.
For 17-18, TriEA scholars will utilize their community Compost Learning Center to learn entrepreneurial skills. Scholars will create compost, nature's fertilizer, using cafeteria food waste. This "Black Gold" will be offered as a soil amendment at Paul Quinn College's Local Market and to grow vegetables in our school garden. Please consider making a meaningful gift this North Texas Giving Day!
