Held this year on September 18, North Texas Giving Day also topped its previous record of total donors with more than 98,000. That works out to about 18 donations per second.

Instead of soliciting donors to write large checks, Dallas-based Cafe Momentum is turning to the community to help raise money for a new restaurant. Using crowdfunding, the nonprofit has raised $140,000 so far for the restaurant's capital campaign. Cafe Momentum provides culinary training for young men coming out of juvenile detention.
