22KILL dba ONE TRIBE FOUNDATION ("OTF") provides traditional and non-traditional therapies and programs to veterans, first responders, frontline healthcare workers, and their families in an effort to combat the striking number of individuals who die by suicide in the veteran and first responder communities. OTF works to raise awareness of the veteran and first responder suicide epidemic that is plaguing our country, and educate the public on PTS and other mental health issues.
In 2012, the Veterans' Administration (VA) released a Suicide Data Report that found an average of 22 veterans die by suicide every day. The 22KILL initiative started in 2013, as a social media movement to raise awareness to this statistic and later became an IRS-recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. 22KILL is committed to researching and understanding the common issues connected with suicide; including post-traumatic stress (PTS), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and depression; along with the various circumstances they stem from, their effects on the individual, and the impact that suicide has on family, friends, and the community as a whole. The 22KILL initiative has grown beyond a mission to a movement; in 2021, the organization rebranded to One Tribe Foundation, to reflect we are all in this fight against suicide together; One Tribe, One Fight.
OTF provides programs and services to veterans and first responders, frontline healthcare workers and/or their families who find themselves vulnerable and susceptible to conditions that may lead to suicide. These conditions can include: alcohol/drug abuse, relationship problems, isolation, and unemployment - among others.
Our programs and services include traditional, evidence-based mental health counseling at little or no cost to the individual or their family, in addition to non- traditional and recreational programs such as outdoor retreats, peer-to-peer activities, and creative workshops.
Our Needs
We are currently looking to fund our traditional mental health counseling services offered in-house in our Dallas and Tarrant County offices, as well as our non-traditional peer-support programs.
All of our programs are open to veterans, first responders, and frontline healthcare workers, including their families.
