In North Texas, food insecurity is a heartbreaking reality for many families, with 1 in 5 children struggling with it every day. Rising living costs have made this challenge even more daunting, forcing parents to make agonizing choices between essentials like food, housing, and utilities. At 5 Loaves Food Pantry, we are dedicated to stepping in during these difficult times to provide crucial support.

Each month, we reach out to over 4,500 families through programs like our Backpack Feeding Program, the Hungry Athletes initiative, and our drive-thru food line. These efforts ensure that families receive not just groceries, but also fresh produce, bread, and other vital supplies. We’re committed to giving children the chance to thrive and families the relief they desperately need.

But as food prices rise and the number of families seeking help grows, our resources are stretched thin. Your donation can make a profound difference, ensuring that no family is left hungry and every child gets the nourishment they deserve. With your support, we can continue to offer not just food, but also hope and dignity to those who need it most

I hope you will join me as we Make a Difference, Impact Lives, and Change Futures this North Texas Giving Day, by supporting our efforts of serving those in need in our community.
Sincerely,

Audrey Wallace

Our Needs

Our goal is to raise $50,000 this year for North Texas Giving Day, these funds will be used to help provide food for our community.

We will use part of the funds raised to secure food for our local students who may not have access to meals over the weekend. Through our Backpack Feeding Program, we partner with Wylie ISD and Garland ISD to provide nutritious, easy-to-prepare food to hundreds of students each week. Special needs students from our community help pack bags containing items like ramen, mac-and-cheese, oatmeal, breakfast bars, and more. These bags are then distributed to schools in both districts. Teachers and counselors place the food in students' backpacks, ensuring they have meals over the weekend.

We deliver food directly to a local school weekly, where parents can conveniently pick it up while they picking up their children. Our offerings include fresh produce, dairy items, canned goods, and bread. By bringing the food to the schools, we alleviate the burden on families who might otherwise struggle to visit a food pantry during their busy schedules.

Each week, we serve hundreds of local families through our pantry location in Sachse. Some arrive with visible desperation, and their children may have gone without nutritious meals for some time. We provide these neighbors with a range of essentials, including shelf-stable items, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, dairy products, and more. When they leave, they take not only food but also renewed hope for a brighter future.

5 Loaves Food Pantry needs your support! As a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit, 5 Loaves provided over 2.5 million pounds of food in 2023 to those in need. Beyond nonperishable items, meat, dairy, and vegetables, we also offer clothing, hot meals for seniors, diapers and wipes for children, and even pet food to ensure that families don’t have to sacrifice their well-being to care for their beloved pets.

We serve the communities of Sachse, Wylie, Murphy, Garland, Richardson, Rowlett, and surrounding areas.

Mission

5 Loaves Ministry is designed to meet the needs of the most vulnerable members of our community - the children. It creates an atmosphere of love and support that changes lives and gives hope to those who need it most.

Begun in 2015, 5 Loaves received its registered 501(c)3 designation in 2017. Over time it has grown in service as well as respect in the community.

Equity Statement

As a faith based agency serving an underserved population, we do not discriminate based on race, age, sexual orientation, or any other distinctions. We serve and love on our fellow humans.

Our board is made up of individuals that have the same passion for serving our clients. THAT is our number one priority in board (and staff) selection.

Since our programs are not specific to any of the EDI descriptors, we do not use them to measure our clients, nor those that help and support us.
