Our Needs

Sixty (60%) of our funding is from the State of Texas, the other forty percent (40%) must be raised to serve the children. With the restructuring of CPS and the use of a private agency for placement, we are in uncharted waters at this time. Our annual budget is based on having 15 children on a monthly basis.

With the help of local groups in fundraising dedicated to renovations, we have been able to do some upgrades to the house that was built in 1985.
Renovations to both common areas and both the girls and boys bedrooms and bathrooms have been accomplished in the last 3-4 years.

Unfortunately, there is always as need for a facility such as ours and we want to be able to care for the children in a generous and loving way. This facility was built based on the floor plan of the Norville family home and we strive to provide a homelike environment to the children we serve.

Mission

To provide a safe, healthy, nurturing environment to children who are separated from their families due to neglect, abuse, abandonment, or who are in the Texas foster care system. To provide programs and services to enhance education/ awareness programs to enhance community action.

Needs

Because only a portion of our revenue is covered by State Funds, it is necessary to supplement that revenue with generous donations from the public.

We serve children from 0 to 17 so any cleaning supplies, recreational craft supplies are always needed.

Equity Statement

The A. Fern Norville Children's Shelter provides a safe haven for children who have been removed from their parents due to abuse or neglect. Dedicated to protecting these vulnerable children, the shelter fosters an environment that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion, ensuring ever child feels valued and supported.
