As only the second organization of our kind in the United States, our growth and reach over the past eight years has been incredible. All of our retreats have been near or at capacity. Due to the presented need and high number of requests we have expanded our programming and reach while continuing to offer care to families who have experienced child loss at any age from pregnancy loss to adult loss but have also expanded to reach out specifically to parents whose children died due to suicide, homicide and fentanyl poisoning. We offer seven 4-day retreats, one 1-day retreat, and four special events throughout the year. In 2024 we have introduced our Create Community Days that allow parents, grandparents, extended family and supportive friends to come together to tangibly work together on projects while sharing their children's lives and stories with one another. Our in person participants have traveled from 27 states and Canada to find a supportive community that understands this journey of grief and love.
Our Needs
The need for grief resources for parents that provide healthy ways of coping, offer community and allow the space for both remembering, celebrating and creating a legacy for children is tremendous. The growth of A Memory Grows over the past 8 years has shown that our organization is meeting a unique need in our community.
Community is more important now than ever before as the isolation that comes with grief has been significantly exacerbated due to the pandemic and post-pandemic realizations of remote workplaces and the changes that have taken place with other social events. We are thrilled to be offering all of our retreats and events in person to offer community and a safe space for grief and love to co-exist in a supportive environment.
Our goal is to continue to be able to offer all of our services at a low cost so that anyone who desires to attend can do so without financial strain. Over the past three years we have witnessed the number of scholarship requests more than double. The gifts received from North Texas Giving Day will help to underwrite the expenses of our retreats and special events, provide scholarships as well as to allow us to expand our programming by offering more retreats, special events and community programming. As we look towards the future of A Memory Grows we are searching for property to be able to build our own facility that will allow for increased programming, expanded support, more frequent retreats and reunion gatherings. Increased staffing is needed to broaden our support and provide comprehensive care to the parents and families who are navigating the integration of grief into everyday life.
Thank you in advance for providing hope and healing to parents and for allowing A Memory Grows to be the place where love always carries on.
