Mission

The purpose and mission of the Plano African American Museum (PAAM) is education and information. To cultivate an appreciation of the life, culture, history and art of African Americans in North Texas, particularly in Plano, during the late 1800s to present day.

Needs

As with any museum our most urgent need is funding. Our goal for the museum is to become the biggest little museum in North Texas. We would like to provide not only a glimpse of the past but prepare the next generation for the future. We will provide exhibits, lectures, events showcasing new and upcoming talents in human thought, history, and the arts.

Presently all of our staff are volunteers, we would love to be able to hire an Executive Director to take the museum to the next level.

Equity Statement

We feel all our (humanity) stories contribute to the success of each other. We welcome anyone who is interested in keeping history alive and willing to share, no matter what race, creed, culture, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
