Giving Activity

Mission

The Air and Space Forces Association promotes a dominant United States Air Force and a strong national Defense, and honors Airmen, Guardians and their families while preserving our Air and Space Force heritage. To accomplish this, AFA:

EDUCATES the public on the critical need for unmatched aerospace power and a technically superior workforce to ensure U.S. national security.

ADVOCATES for aerospace power and STEM education.

SUPPORTS the total Air Force family and aerospace education.

Locally, we support our area youth by providing flying scholarships to Civil Air Patrol (CAP) cadets and scholarships to high school rising juniors and seniors to attend week-long Youth Leadership Conferences, focused on leadership, patriotism and the free enterprise system. We also support our local AF Junior ROTC units with college scholarships. We promote STEM education through student competitions in CyberPatiot/SlellarXplorer programs.

See the "PROGRAMS" tab under "ORGANIZATION DATA" below, for a full description of each of the programs supported.

Needs

THE AFA SAM JOHNSON CHAPTER NEEDS YOUR HELP AND TIME!

Our mission is to provide motivation for young people to understand the need for a strong aerospace force component of our national defense posture. Scholarships and financial support are provided to allow our youth to participate in aerospace programs in which they might not otherwise be able to participate. Providing these awards and scholarships requires funds. The Dallas Aerospace Education Foundation of the Sam Johnson Chapter 232 that supports these programs is a 501(c)(3) organization and all contributions are fully deductible. Contributions can be sent to Mr. Ric Hamer, at 1965 Remington Lane, Frisco, TX 75033. Feel free to contact Ric at 214-500-0951 or by e-mailing Richamer45@gmail.com. Any amount is valuable and appreciated.

VOLUNTEERS are always appreciated to help with all the youth programs and fundraising activities. Please see all the programs listed on this site. The Golf tournament in October 2024 needs dozens of volunteers to help with this major fundraising effort.

If you’d like to get more involved in the activities of the Chapter, please join us. Our Chapter Council normally meets on the second Thursday of the month at 11:30 and is open to all members. If you’re interested in taking a leadership role or just getting more involved with the Chapter, this is a good way to get started. Contact Ric Hamer, richamer45@gmail.com for more information or to be put on the Council email notification list.
