The Arthritis Foundation is boldly pursuing a cure for America’s #1 cause of disability, while championing the fight against arthritis with life-changing resources, science, advocacy, and community connections.

A Trusted Source for Over 70 Years

In 1948, the founders of the Arthritis Foundation envisioned a voluntary organization that would lead an attack against the oldest group of diseases known to humankind. Then, there was very little interest in arthritis. Today, we push arthritis into the public eye and are on the leading edge of changing the future. We’re motivated by how far we’ve come – and how important our current work is for the years ahead.

Our Focus

Scientific Discovery
Accelerate progress in new and better diagnostics and treatments, achieve results faster with an inclusive approach.

Help & Support
Make a major difference in the lives of people with arthritis through personalized attention and expert guidance – whenever, wherever.

Advocacy & Access
Be the most respected, authoritative voice for people with arthritis to regulators, insurers, employers and policymakers.

Juvenile Arthritis
Meet the unique needs of JA families with practical services and support to improve their lives every step of the way.

Your Money At Work

Since 1948 $500,000,000 invested in arthritis research. Arthritis Foundation-funded scientists were key to the discovery of biologics and other major interventions, changing the future for all forms of arthritis.

In the past 5 years, we’ve invested $25 million to boost juvenile arthritis research through partnerships with the Childhood Arthritis & Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) and other collaborators.

$4 million invested in Juvenile Arthritis Camps and Conferences. Through life-changing camps and our JA Conference, including travel awards, more kids, teens and young adults were able to connect with others living with JA.

Through the Live Yes! Arthritis Network, we connected people online and in-person. 10,000 people participated in the Live Yes! INSIGHTS assessments, one of the largest of its kind patient-reported outcomes studies. There are now 150 Local Live Yes! Connect Groups in communities across the country.

From securing 26 new pieces of legislation in 20 states to supporting the introduction the Safe Step Act to both the House and Senate, our work in the public sector is positioning arthritis as a health care priority. We helped secure more than 135 state legislative victories in all 50 states, plus Washington, DC, since 2014.
