Shelter is a basic human need. Yet statistics show that over 7 out of 10 people are one paycheck, one life crisis, away from homelessness. There are many faces of homelessness.  And there is a huge housing shortage for a growing, yet under-served demographic of  single women who are not chronically homeless, not on drugs,  not being released from prison and cannot or will  not go to shelters.  They may be living in their cars and may include seniors or veterans.  They may be homeless due to divorce, fleeing domestic abuse, illness (e.g. COVID), relocation and/or economic hardship.

The Bethel Project's central goal is to help reduce the incidences of homelessness in the DFW area.

Our organization consists of three components:

1. Safe, sanitary, affordable shared transistional housing; an alternative to shelters and expensive motels

2. Referrals. We work closely with our community partners in homelessness solutions

3.  Resources: Life coaching, including financial literacy, to prepare our women for permanent housing; and spiritual and personal development, including encouraging faith-based curriculum to help our women overcome mental and emotional trauma, caused or exacerbated by homelessness.

This campaign is to expand our transistional housing component by obtaining a residence that will accommodate up to 8 women for a period of 6-24 months.  Currently we can get a  limited  number of vulnerable women off the street and into safe and sanitary accommodations where they aren't afraid to close their eyes at night, have clean clothes and bedding, can take showers (and not have to wash up in public bathrooms),  and prepare healthy meals.

" LIVING IN MY CAR"

The Bethel Project really came through for me at a time when my world came crashing down. I went through a divorce after 12 years of marriage and one year later, my mom passed away. At that point, my mental and emotional state was questionable. I lost everything and ended up homeless and living in my car.

I came to The Bethel Project and thus began my road to recovery. God provided a place of refuge where I could transition and start my life over.  I also attended life coaching classes so I could solely focus on the healing process.

I transitioned from the Bethel Project exactly one year later. Today I am  dedicated to empowering divorced women like myself to reclaim their identity and redefine their life’s purpose by healing past hurts and leveling up to embrace a new standard of living.

I am grateful to The Bethel Project for giving me an opportunity to transform my life. I am forever grateful for the grace and mercy of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Equity Statement

The Bethel Project strives to level the playing field for the marginalized homeless women with low socioeconomic status so that they can obtain shelter, which is basic human need.
