Blue Caboose Children's Fund

Blue Caboose Children's Fund is a small nonprofit serving the families of children living with cystic fibrosis.  We strive to ease the financial burden of having a child living with cystic fibrosis while providing emotional support to the family and spreading awareness of the disease. We serve our families through key programming. Each year for the beginning of the school year we provide the children living with cystic fibrosis and their siblings a backpack full of school supplies to aid in their success. For the holidays we provide parents with gifts for all of the children in their home as well as a gift certificate to help them purchase their holiday meal. When children with cystic fibrosis are admitted to the hospital, a normal admission is 14 days. To brighten their days a little we visit the hospital and provide a Caboose Comfort Tote full of goodies (some things are for fun and some are necessity items). We also send dinner to the hospital for the child and a caregiver one night during their admission. Because it is important to have a community of people who understand what you are going through in life, Blue Caboose hosts a caregiver event each month in different locations across the DFW metroplex. These events are open to all of our caregivers and are simply to connect people with similar struggles. Lastly, we provide grants to families to help pay essential bills when the financial burden of cystic fibrosis makes it impossible.
