Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is an after-school theater arts training program for students ages 4-18. Since its founding in 1980, CYT has grown to be the largest youth theater program in the nation, with Branches across the country training thousands of students a year.
Each Branch's yearly calendar is made up of three ten-week sessions: Fall, Winter, and Spring. These sessions involves after-school classes in theater arts and the opportunity to audition and perform in a Broadway-style musical or work behind-the-scenes. Additionally, CYT offers a Summer session consisting of camps, workshops, and performance opportunities.
CYT stands in the forefront in its commitment to the highest ethical, moral, technical, and artistic standards of excellence. Instructors are professionals, qualified in teaching and/or performing, who understand our mission statement, values, objectives, and goals.
CYT's programs are about so much more than musical theater! We are dedicated to developing character in children and adults one stage at a time.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we are able to serve our community by providing quality, affordable educational programs, and productions. However, ticket sales and class tuition are not sufficient to cover the cost of delivering top-notch programming.
A gift to CYT is an investment in an established, family-oriented organization that helps provide young people a safe, wholesome environment and skills to make better life choices so that they become positive, contributing members of their community. CYT also allows young people to explore the arts in an atmosphere that nurtures their inner creativity while developing their character.
According to The Value and Quality of Arts Education: A Statement of Principles, students who participate in the arts do better in school, stay in school longer, and win more academic awards. They are also three times more likely to go to college and become more confident, considerate, pro-social and pro-civic citizens! Your generous investment ensures that our students are given these benefits so that they can go on to build a stronger world for future generations. Specifically, your investment will move CYT Dallas towards securing a facility of our own for classes, offices, rehearsals, storage, and set-building.
Christian Youth Theater develops character and creativity in kids of all ages through quality theater arts training that brings families and communities together while reflecting the Creator.
Our CYT community comprises individuals with diverse faiths, political beliefs, perspectives on social issues, and ethnicities. CYT is the common ground where we can work towards a common goal, treating all with respect, understanding, and love. CYT leaders, families, and students must be able to hold to their convictions while simultaneously demonstrating grace and compassion to all those they encounter regardless of sex, gender, faith, race, orientation, or political affiliation.
