Thank you for donating to our organization! Your contribution will allow us to expand our Social Services in the community. Please visit our website to see more information about the services that we offer. This year we added an Intern Program and we've expanded our Civic Engagement Presentations for area students.
We look forward to an opportunity to expand our Holiday Doll Drive: Barbie Like Me! This is such a fun initiative that makes a huge difference. Please consider hosting a Barbie Like Me Doll Drive to collect dolls to contribute to our campaign.

Mission

Our Mission at CBATES is to work collaboratively with communities building attitudes to encourage success by offering social services and resources to those facing hardships. We also empower people by building health, wealth, and power in the community through Civic Engagement.

Needs

Help us reach our goal to support the following programs:

1. Barbie Like Me Toy Drive (Dolls and Action Figures)

Help us bring joy and foster racial equity through our Barbie Like Me initiative. Inspired by the historical Doll Experiment by Kenneth and Mamie Clark, this program aims to distribute 500-1000 diverse dolls and action figures to children in local hospitals. By providing toys that reflect all ethnicities, we ensure every child feels represented.

2. Environmental & Climate Justice Program

We advocate for environmental justice in underserved communities, working on the following key initiatives:

-Air Quality Monitoring: Advocating for Clean Air, increasing awareness, educating residents, and monitoring air pollution in vulnerable areas. We are working to increase the installation of Air Quality Monitors in underserved and vulnerable communities.

-Water Access in Sandbranch: Supporting the Sandbranch community, established by formerly enslaved people, in their fight for access to clean water, trash, and sewer services—just 15 miles from downtown Dallas, but without running water.

-Anti-Lead Campaign: Addressing lead contamination in public schools and daycare centers to protect our children’s health.

3. Intern & Volunteer Program

We mentor 150-200 students annually, offering hands-on experience as they work alongside our organization to implement our community-driven programs. Your support will help us continue nurturing future leaders.

4. Social Services Expansion

We assist veterans, seniors, low-income families, pregnant women, and more in applying for Texas Benefits and other social services. With your help, we can reach more individuals in need.

5. GOTV (Get Out The Vote) Efforts

We are committed to increasing voter registration through non-partisan efforts. Our program helps eligible voters register and participate in the democratic process. We do not promote or endorse any candidates.

6. Monthly Newsletter

Stay informed! Subscribe to our newsletter at www.cbates.org for updates on our programs and initiatives. We also use our newsletter platform to educate, advocate, engage, and inform our subscribers on issues and topics that impact them.

7. Civic Engagement Education

We provide educational presentations for high school and college students, encouraging civic participation and understanding of social issues. We also provide voter registration for eligible student voters.

8. Community Ambassador Program

We have over 800 Community Ambassadors that we empower to be civically engaged, and educate them on issues and topics that impact them and their communities. They also receive our monthly newsletters, and are invited to volunteer and engage with our organization and the community.
