Center for BrainHealth® – part of The University of Texas at Dallas – is a nonprofit research institute redefining how people understand and address the brain’s health and performance. Our team conducts leading-edge research and creates science-backed programs that empower people to be more proactive about their own brain health. We are driven to continue discovering new science-backed approaches to bring to the public.
Our Needs
Your brain – the central processing unit for everything you do – navigates extraordinary challenges in military life. Being in combat one day and back home the next takes a huge toll on brain health.
Our soldiers come home with effects of prolonged chronic stress. Symptoms include interrelated impairments, including brain injury effects, sleep disturbances, long-term pain, mood disorders and other brain health challenges.
Your gift to Center for BrainHealth in support of North Texas Giving Day will help deliver Optimal BrainHealth for Warfighters to servicemembers through a partnership with US Special Operations Command (SOCOM). Optimal BrainHealth for Warfighters is a brain performance model to support our Special Operations Forces (SOF) and veterans. This program will introduce essential brain health tools – specifically, the BrainHealth® Index and Strategic Memory Advanced Reasoning Tactics (SMART™) training.
Operators never stop training. Physical fitness increases strength and resilience, helping rebound from injury. Now, with comprehensive brain training, our nation’s heroes can also train to protect and advance their most valuable asset – the brain. Optimal BrainHealth for Warfighters will benefit warriors and their families by providing on-site training with embedded “BrainHealth Coaches” to support operators by working to measure and improve their brain health.
North Texas Giving Day is September 19, and early giving is available now. All gifts up to a total of $20,000 will be doubled thanks to a generous challenge match gift from Linda and Joel Robuck. Additionally, Center for BrainHealth® has received a challenge match gift from retired U.S. Navy four-star admiral and former University of Texas System chancellor William McRaven, who recently received the 2024 Bezos Courage & Civility Award. Thanks to both challenge match gifts, your contribution on North Texas Giving Day could be quadrupled. We hope you will make a donation today to honor those who put their lives on the line to protect our freedom.
