Coppell Community Garden: Since 1998, donated more than 350,000 lbs of fresh organic produce to Metrocrest Social Services. In 2023 calendar year, over 25,000 lbs of fresh organic produce donated. 150 to 200 families currently served daily through Metrocrest Social Services. Over  25,000 volunteer hours from 110+ gardening families.

Coppell Farmers Market: More than 70,000 people visit our market each year to shop local products from 55 vendors. The average distance that products travel from farm to market is only 42 miles. Our dedicated volunteer committee spends more than 1500 hours supporting the market operations throughout the year.

Our Needs

Coppell Community Garden: Operating needs of Garden and Green House such as seeds, gardening soil, tools. Projects such as rebuilding garden beds at the 3 gardens, drip irrigation for garden beds, new orchard at Old Town Garden.

Coppell Farmers Market: Funds raised will support the operations of our markets such as providing ongoing education for children to learn more about local food systems, supporting our SNAP benefits which provide additional funds to customers using their Lone Star Card, and by allowing us to keep stall fees affordable for vendors.

Mission

Coppell Community Garden: Growing Community through Gardens that Give. Volunteer gardeners use their gardening skills to raise fresh, nutritious produce year round to donate to the Metrocrest Services Food Pantry. In 2023, over 25,000 pounds of fresh produce was donated to Metrocrest Services Food Pantry and over 13,000 volunteer hours were documented to grow and harvest the produce. Gardeners learn about growing fruits and vegetables organically, cultivate their plots, and work together on community chores. Coppell Farmers Market: Our mission is to form a relationship with local growers/producers to provide fresh, seasonal produce and agricultural products for our community while fostering a sense of place in Old Town Coppell. Over a thousand customers come to the Coppell Farmers Market on any given Saturday to find local, healthy food, develop a relationship with those providing their food, meet up with friends and neighbors, and be a part of the local food movement.
