As an all volunteer non-profit, our biggest need is funding for vet bills. Upon intake, all dogs receive necessary veterinary care ranging from basic vaccinations and Spay/Neuter, to costly diagnostics, dental procedures and surgeries when needed. The majority of dogs in our care are seniors with a variety of medical conditions requiring daily medications, frequent vet visits & tests to monitor their conditions. Your donations give us the ability to continue providing the best care possible to these deserving little dogs! 100% of donations go directly to the care of the dogs in our program. We do not have a paid staff and all of us are Volunteers!
Dachshund Lovers of Texas Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Dachshund rescue organization operating in DFW. We're foster-based, rescuing primarily from N Texas shelters. We address all veterinary needs (spay/neuter, dentals & all medical issues) before placing our dogs in adoptive homes that have undergone a thorough application & screening process. Our mission is to rescue Dachshunds in DFW, find them a good home, where both the dogs and the adopters enjoy a long-term, loving relationship.
Our organization depends on the generosity of our donors to help enable us to continue to provide the excellent veterinary care and maintenance our many foster Dachshunds depend on. We have a large percentage of sanctuary and hospice foster dogs who require extensive diagnostics and multiple ongoing maintenance medications. With the ever-increasing cost of quality veterinary care, we strive to continue providing the quality of life, love, and comfort that our Dachshunds deserve, especially in their twilight years.
Our organization recognizes the importance of appreciating the diverse cultural, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds of the Dachshunds and families we serve. Our rescue and adoption decisions are made based on equal respect for all members of this diverse community.
We encourage non-judgmental education for the public as part of our community interaction, and we strive to make rescue and adoption placement decisions based primarily on the needs of the specific pets as the priority.
