Who We Are: Dallas Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (Dallas TRHT) is a community-driven organization whose mission is to create a radically inclusive Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex by addressing race and racism through narrative change, relationship building and equitable policies and practices. Dallas TRHT’s approach examines how the hierarchy of human value became embedded in our society, both its culture and structures, and then works with communities to design and implement effective actions that will permanently uproot it.
Launched in 2016, Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) is a comprehensive, national and community-based process to plan for and bring about transformational and sustainable change, and to address the historic and contemporary effects of racism. TRHT is a national effort with 14 place-based TRHT communities. Dallas Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (Dallas TRHT), founded in 2017, exists to plan for and bring about transformational and sustainable community level change, and to address the historic and contemporary effects of racism in Dallas and Fort Worth, TX. Although initially funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and fiscally sponsored by the Communities Foundation of Texas, Dallas TRHT is now an independent 501c3, and remains committed to implementing a self-sustaining community-centered model that serves Dallas and Tarrant County.
Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation is an effort designed by hundreds of experts to help American communities identify, understand, and overcome the legacy of racism. It focuses on building a collective story about racism’s role in the community, connecting people across racial lines, and enacting sustainable policy changes to undo racial disparities.
