The unique and innovative mission of Dec My Room is to vastly enhance the lives of children who are admitted into the hospital for a prolonged amount of time. Our volunteers carefully curate our patients' rooms to their specific interests and loved items and themes! We transform what can be a scary and possibly unknown place into a wonderful space ALL their own, where they can be more relaxed and happy. We create a "healing place" curated to each child, which is unique *just to them* and tailored to make them feel as special as they are, which leads to greater focus on improving their health and well-being.
Our Room Decs have far-reaching effects: the improved mindset and immeasurable JOY of our patients reverberate throughout their entire care community. Their families, doctors, nurses, Social Workers, Patient Care Techs, Housekeeping and beyond ALL benefit from the healing effects our Room Decs have! The items we provide are for the child to enjoy during their stay and take home when they leave; they and all others touched by a Room Dec are forever changed by this experience.
All funds raised through North Texas Giving Day will stay in the North Texas community and be used to create healing places for children at Children's Medical Center Dallas, Children's Medical Center Plano, HCA Medical City Children's Hospital, and Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth.
Dec My Room's vision is to create personalized healing places for long term pediatric and young adult patients.
We enhance the lives of children who are admitted into a hospital for a prolonged amount of time, three weeks or longer. Dec My Room Volunteers personalize the hospital room upon their arrival with items that complement the special likes and interests of the individual patient. These items are for the patient to enjoy during their stay and take home when they leave. Dec My Room is a unique and innovative charitable program. Our efforts help improve the attitudes of patients and their healing process. Dec My Room is funded by grants, charitable donations, and volunteer support.

While we suggest a gift of $300, which directly and completely Dec's one child's room, any amount is welcomed and appreciated!
Suggestions:
$3,600 = gift of 1 decorated room each month for 12 months
$1,800 = gift of 6 decorated rooms
$1,200 = gift of 4 decorated rooms
$300 = gift of 1 decorated room
$100 = gift towards items for a decorated room
$50 = gift towards items for a decorated room OR a Hospital Respite Room for families (office supplies for families, books for patients to take and keep, etc.)
Every dollar raised helps us to brighten a child's and their family's hospital stay and aid in their healing process!
Dec My Room decorates rooms for any child regardless of race, sex or age. As long as a pediatric patient is an inpatient for three weeks or longer, they qualify to have their room Dec'ed!
