We at DFW Kids On The Move commit to creating a platform that teaches African American teen girls in DFW practical skills that improve their self-esteem, build character development, niche their career goals, and learn to value healthy relationships.
Our Program is comprised of five components:
Build - The focus of the build component is to help these girls develop healthy self-esteem, mental clarity, strong relationships, and a warrior mentality. When they learn to be more confident in themselves and in their work, they will be confident in their future.
Design - It's imperative that we prepare the girls to design a lifestyle that will give them a foundation to build a well-rounded life beyond adolescence.
Create - Creative and fine arts are the catalyst for allowing each girl a safe, nonjudgemental platform to express their feelings, thoughts, and ideas. Through the use of photography, creative writing, painting, fashion design, film, and more, the girls create a creative piece that is then published in a monthly newsletter.
Explore - We believe that exposure and travel are two of the greatest attributes to living a fulfilled life. Our goal is to give each girl the opportunity to travel beyond their zip code, learn about other cultures, and experience the world through the eyes of others.
Imagine - In order to get to a destination, there must be a roadmap. There must be a vision. Through imagination, each girl will create a realistic vision board that includes plans for her career, education, travel, hobbies, and more. A plan of accomplishment will be developed to execute the vision board.
