We at DFW Kids On The Move commit to creating a platform that teaches African American teen girls in DFW practical skills that improve their self-esteem, build character development, niche their career goals, and learn to value healthy relationships.

Our Program is comprised of five components:

Build - The focus of the build component is to help these girls develop healthy self-esteem, mental clarity, strong relationships, and a warrior mentality. When they learn to be more confident in themselves and in their work, they will be confident in their future.

Design - It's imperative that we prepare the girls to design a lifestyle that will give them a foundation to build a well-rounded life beyond adolescence.

Create - Creative and fine arts are the catalyst for allowing each girl a safe, nonjudgemental platform to express their feelings, thoughts, and ideas. Through the use of photography, creative writing, painting, fashion design, film, and more, the girls create a creative piece that is then published in a monthly newsletter.

Explore - We believe that exposure and travel are two of the greatest attributes to living a fulfilled life. Our goal is to give each girl the opportunity to travel beyond their zip code, learn about other cultures, and experience the world through the eyes of others.

Imagine - In order to get to a destination, there must be a roadmap. There must be a vision. Through imagination, each girl will create a realistic vision board that includes plans for her career, education, travel, hobbies, and more. A plan of accomplishment will be developed to execute the vision board.

Mission

We at DFW Kids On The Move commit to creating a platform that teaches African American teen girls in DFW practical skills that improve their self-esteem, builds character development, niche their career goals, and learn to value healthy relationships.

Needs

Community financial support is vital to our mission. Over the past four years, we've made a significant impact on the lives of the teen girls we serve, helping them to shape their futures beyond high school. For instance, one young woman who joined us in 2021 discovered her passion for photography through our camp. Now a high school graduate, she is pursuing photography in college and as a career. Another teen is getting ready to showcase her writing talents in our Holiday Special this December. As a budding playwright, our programs have provided her with a platform to develop and share her creative writing skills. Your financial contributions enable us to continue offering programs that equip these young women with essential life skills and opportunities for growth.

Equity Statement

At DFW Kids On The Move, Inc., we are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment. We aim to break down barriers and create opportunities for all, especially those from underrepresented communities. Our efforts focus on ensuring access to resources, promoting inclusion, advancing equity, and engaging with the community. We continuously measure our progress to ensure that we are making meaningful strides toward creating a just and inclusive world where everyone can reach their full potential.
