Everyone deserves access to the benefits of nature and play Downtown.  For decades, we have been on a mission to create and nurture public spaces where the community can reflect, connect and thrive.

Downtown Dallas Parks Conservancy (DDPC), formerly Parks for Downtown Dallas, started building parks in 1987 with Lubben Plaza. We completed Civic Garden in 2012, and more recently, Carpenter Park, Harwood Park, Pacific Plaza, and West End Square. Most of these sites were parking lots.

The city’s urban core is greener than any time in modern history. DDPC and the Dallas Park and Recreation Department have jointly built out a neighborhood park network in the urban core. Six signature parks have been added to the 1.5 square mile center city in less than 20 years: Main Street Garden (2009), Civic Garden (2012), Pacific Plaza (2019), West End Square (2021), Carpenter Park (2022), and Harwood Park (2023).

We need to continue the positive momentum so that Downtown has a greener and brighter future! Donations of all sizes support critical park needs and design-sensitive improvements that make Downtown greener and more sustainable for all. Together, we can elevate the Downtown park experience – For the Greener Good.

- Curbing urban heat island effects by as much as 10 degrees

- Naturally managing about 2 million gallons of rainwater annually

- Sequestering more than 125,000 pounds of carbon annually

Mission

The Conservancy advances the long-term development and support of public parks within Downtown Dallas.

Our vision is to nurture and protect these urban neighborhood parks, creating an environment that spurs moments of inspiration and restoration. As park stewards, builders and advocates, we strive to engage and serve the community through high-impact capital projects and investments in the signature park trees and gardens.

Needs

Your donation will fund vital urban tree care and landscape programs. This North Texas Giving season, all donations will help us pilot a robust tree care program at Carpenter Park, including arborist evaluations, insect and disease prevention, deep root fertilization, pruning, and root flare exposure.

Equity Statement

At DDPC, we have succeeded in meeting and exceeding the City of Dallas Business Inclusion & Diversity (BID) Plan goals in every one of our park projects.

As a long-term champion and advocate of Downtown Dallas parks, we will continue to listen to our community and cultivate an urban park system where all people - no matter the color of their skin, ethnicity, age, income level, sexual orientation, gender, religion, or ability - feel welcome, and can access the benefits of nature and play in Downtown.
