FAQ
- ECHOLOCATION: The City of Dallas Bath House Cultural Center in White Rock Lake Park. With only 65-100 seats (depending on set design), the experience of attending our productions is intimate and casual. Dress up or come as you are. We welcome all audiences.
-
HISTORY: Echo Theatre was founded in 1998 in Dallas, Texas, to lead the charge for gender parity in play production by solely producing work written by women. In 2020, that mission was expanded to embrace "woman+." That includes cisgender women, women-identifying, and non-binary playwrights.
-
SEASON: Echo's fiscal year is calendar-based, and our season includes three mainstage productions. In 2025, we're presenting all Regional or World premieres, including a rolling premiere in Dallas that will transfer to Austin!
- INTERNATIONAL REP: We have earned a national reputation for enthusiastic collaboration with women+ playwrights through our four International Big Shout Out New Play Contests and two Special Shout Out Projects. These competitions have yielded 8 premieres and 26 staged readings of New Work in North Texas.
-
PODCAST: ECHO OFFSTAGE, an intimate conversation with impactful women of theater, continues to attract new listeners. Our guests include Pulitzer Prize-winning playwrights, designers, administrators, and directors of national organizations. The podcast's appeal is increasing, and Echo is seeking season sponsors. It's FREE wherever you love to listen!
- ECHO READS: A performance reading series with three scripts in the Spring and three in the Fall - all plays by women+ writers. To serve our loyal East Dallas audience and our Dallas Community, we perform professional readings of each play followed by intense and lively audience and cast talkbacks absolutely FREE. Donations are accepted.
