Ennis Public Theatre began 20 years ago in a small theater on the edge of town. Since then we have moved to our new state-of-the-art theater in historic downtown Ennis. We have put on more than 100 productions over the years, and since moving to our new theater in 2017 we have gained a larger audience, attracted actors from Ennis and all over the Dallas/Ft Worth area, and added children's theater classes. We continue to strive for excellence in everything we do, whether it is behind the scenes for our productions or in our box office providing the best customer relations in the south Dallas area. We have a board of directors that meets often and communicates continually with our Artistic Directors and our Business Manager to improve and grow our theater family. Most importantly to our theater is our very dedicated volunteers, from our actors, to our stage hands, to parents, and beyond. We rely heavily on our volunteers to help create the magic that is Ennis Public Theatre. Without them we would not exist, and could not continue to bring the best live entertainment to North Texas. We touch more than 1000 people a year through our performances, our Young Artists Program, and our volunteer opportunities.

Our Needs

After selling out all performances of the musical Annie in December, with a cast of over 30 adult and youth actors, EPT is off to a good start for 2025! The first two productions, Leaving Iowa, and The Sweet Delilah Swim Club charmed and delighted audiences with a combination of comedy and poignancy. Musical Audition Prep Workshops are scheduled to prepare youth for the Young Artists Program production of Beetlejuice JR in June, and a record number of participants and attendees are expected.

New and returning artists are gracing the EPT stage. Tickets to our Pay-What-You-Can shows encourage everyone to attend the theatre, regardless of income. Great things are happening at every turn for the theater in 2025 and we still have three excellent shows to come, The Actor’s Nightmare/Wanda’s Visit, Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors, and our holiday show, The Snow Queen.

Please consider supporting us as we continue to educate, entertain, and inspire our community! We have high hopes of attracting more new artists, growing our next generation of young artists, and building a strong presence of theater arts in our community. Theater is so much more than actors on a stage, and we want to share our passion and love for the arts with as many community members as we can. Your gifts allow us to offer the opportunity for volunteer actors and technical staff to participate in our productions at no cost while learning important skills that will further their theater experience.

We do what we do for you, our community, but we cannot do it without you.

Mission

In a spirit of benevolence, excellence, and integrity, to use our talents and the collective talents of those who serve with us to produce the highest quality live intimate theatre in the Southwest. To create an environment for performers that will foster growth and achievement, and to be a destination for many who would experience a stream of artistic life and vitality that will entertain, educate, encourage and inspire.

Needs

Each show costs us between $3,000 and $10,000 to produce. Your gift helps us pay for show licensing, scripts, sets, costumes, props, salaries, supplies.
