Equines for the Front Lines brings horses and veterans together. Time with horses may ease the challenges of PTSD by improving sleep, reducing anxiety, creating confidence, and providing a sense of peace. Any veteran, regardless of the conflict or circumstances, is welcome to participate. There is no charge, no obligation, and no prior horse experience needed.

Peer-to-peer support Sometimes veterans need to connect with other people “who understand.” The shared experience of veterans is a powerful bond. Through our train the trainer program, veterans learn to teach lessons and activities, as well as provide moral and physical support to other veterans.

Equines for the Front Lines provides a sanctuary where “Thank you for your service” is sincere. It offers an environment of safety and relaxation in a small group setting. Veterans participate in a variety of activities and experiences with the horses. The program includes time for fellowship with other veterans, horsemanship presentations, and hands-on demonstrations. Veterans work with the horses on the ground and in the saddle. Off-site trips to local equine professionals and facilities provide additional experiences.

Mission

To support and empower those who serve and protect us through the use of horses and a horse culture.

Needs

The only way we can provide ongoing services for our veterans is to have a healthy string of horses. And horses are expensive! It can cost up to $5,000 a year to maintain a horse - feed, hay, supplements, farrier, and medical care - all of which have increased in cost. Your support is crucial in helping us continue our mission of serving those who have served.

In addition to ongoing equine care, we would also use funds from North Texas Giving Day to put fans in the horses' stalls. Summers in Texas can be brutal. We've set up floor fans in front of their stalls to beat the heat. Not the best solution. They tend to get knocked over and cords pulled out.

And we're thrilled to partner again with Starr Construction who is providing a matching grant - meaning every dollar we raise will be matched up to $2,000!
