Exodus Ministries is a proud North Texas 501c3 nonprofit where formerly incarcerated single moms can heal from the abuse and trauma of their past and gain the life skills necessary to become the thriving women and mothers that God intended for them to be. Exodus reunites formerly incarcerated mothers with their children and provides an array of services necessary for these women to become responsible, productive, and self-sufficient. Our safe and secure apartment residence (downtown Dallas) is a respite for these families, and is central to our families' breaking generational cycles of abuse, poverty and incarceration. Each of our women journeys through a 12-month residential program of treatment and support services.
We offer a rigorous live-in program, and the mothers-in-residence must commit to making the necessary changes required for long-term success. Once accepted, each resident is given a fully furnished, single-family apartment. Prior to occupancy, each apartment is adopted by a family, group, business, or individual who undertakes to clean, paint, furnish, decorate, and supply the kitchen cabinets with everything needed by the mothers to prepare and serve meals for themselves and their children. Upon arrival, mothers find the refrigerator, freezer and pantry fully stocked with everything needed to prepare meals for the first week of their stay.
As important as our programming is for the resident moms, it's the children who receive the greatest gift of all. They get their real moms back! Confused, anxious children become stable, well-adjusted kids as they discover the love of a mother who is flourishing and truly present with them every day.
During our twelve-month residential program, we offer ongoing case management, professional counseling, and personal mentoring for residents and their school-age children. We meet weekly with each of the moms to ensure accountability and progress towards their individual goals. The women attend life skills classes Monday through Friday from 6:30-8:00 pm. Childcare and children’s programming are available during the class times. Exodus has tons of volunteer opportunities, too! Please see below.

Exodus provides an intensive residential program for women coming out of incarceration. We serve single mothers who want to be reunited with their children as they exit prison. Together with their kids, these formerly incarcerated moms work towards a productive and fulfilling life through a rigorous 12-month program. Significant change is necessary, but these women are ready for the challenge. Exodus offers a structured residential program which allows the time and support necessary for these courageous women to become well-balanced, productive, and able to live in the real world with poise and confidence. The essential "vehicle" for change at Exodus is the RELATIONSHIPS that our resident families develop among a broad community of volunteers, mentors, classroom instructors, trained counselors--not to mention tons of thoughtful programming for school-age children--to guide these families on a path to real and enduring change.
