Feeding Fannin was started in April 2018 and partnered with North Texas Food Bank Mobile Pantry to bring fresh produce to underserved residents. Monthly they began coming to Fannin County. As word spread more and more households came to pick up food. We started having cooking lessons, giving out healthy recipes and building a relationship with our community. In March 2020 our plans to expand were rearranged as COVID-19 struck, jobs were lost, price of groceries increased, and and lack of some food was prevalent in this rural area. We began having weekly dinners, increased our food distributions as was possible and delivering to those in the community who could not come to us. We help provide snacks, hygiene products and other necessities to local schools. Our team is prepared if there is an emergency in our area and have provided food and or meals to families in need.
Dollies for food distributions. Funds for bags, food, insurance and supplies. We provide t-shirts and aprons for our volunteers to help with distributions and when we serve meals. Volunteers! We believe we have some of the very best volunteers!
Feeding Fannin is a non-profit organization seeking to promote healthy lifestyle through good nutrition. We partner with North Texas Food Bank and other agencies to bring produce and staples to a rural community in need. We are working in the community to encourage community gardens, fresh foods and proper cooking. We are members of the community, reaching out to our neighbors to find seniors, families and other individuals who may not have enough food in a time of crisis. Through food distributions, resource fairs and community dinners, we hope to help anyone in need of food in Fannin County.
We are in need of more tables for distributions, funds for supplies, bags, markers and other needs at distributions. Bag prices have increased greatly. Dollies for moving boxes. T-shirts for volunteers. Emergency funds for bad weather occasions. Funds to help school programs such as 4-H, FFA and others. Our insurance is over 1,700. a year currently. Volunteers!!
Feeding Fannin does not discriminate against any person because of race, color, sexual orientation or religion. All families from Fannin County are welcome to either location distribution.
