The ministry started in 2002 by passing out sandwiches to the homeless community under the bridges on Loop 12 in Dallas.  It was accelerated in early 2003 during the wintry mix when the founders had the pleasure of accommodating a stranger who was homeless and stranded in the cold weather on I-20 in Arlington, Texas.  More and more friends were invited to their house for warm food, showers, a change of clothes, and prayers.

Loving people is one of our core values.  Outreaches have been conducted in different cities in the DFW Metroplex, Arlington, Dallas, Kennedale, Forest Hills, and Fort Worth.  By a leap of faith, in 2016 the founders decided to branch out and rent an abandoned old club in the Poly Community of Fort Worth in order to serve a larger community of the unsheltered.

At the old club at 2100 Vaughn Blvd., the couple and two small children started the ministry with funds for one month's rent and utilities.  Friends, neighbors, businesses, and churches have been donating their time and resources ever since that opening day.  The ministry became known as the Fishers of Men Outreach Center.  Many lives have been changed physically, mentally, and spiritually with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Thanks be to God for all the donors that continue to provide their prayers and support for our ministry!

Mission

Fishers of Men Outreach Center provides food, clothing, essential services, and spiritual growth with loving care so that the unsheltered and impoverished of the Polytechnic Community of Fort Worth may receive the grace to change on the inside and become what God created them to be.

Needs

Funds are needed to support our capital campaign to renovate a 6,000 sq. ft. building in the community we serve so that we may increase the number of clients we serve weekly from 50 - 70 to 200 - 250. The total cost of the campaign is $675,000.

Over $102,000 has been received or pledged for the campaign thus far. $49,600 has been spent to replace the roof, obtain permits, create engineered stamped drawings, interior and exterior demo work, and for interior structural walls. Volunteer labor has done most of the demo work.

We also need funds for daily operations to support food, utilities, maintenance, and fuel purchases for transportation of clients. Our annual budget for these expenses is currently $181,000.

Volunteers for serving and preparing meals, food pantry, clothing, and maintenance of the facility and property are always needed.
