In America, an estimated two out of every five children are clothing insecure, meaning they do not have access to adequate, appropriate, or affordable clothing.  Children who feel insecure about their clothing may feel self-conscious and distracted and avoid attending school altogether, leading to increased absenteeism and widening the achievement gap.

Frisco Threads Student Clothes Closet is a program developed by the Frisco ISD Council of PTAs in 2021 to positively impact Frisco students experiencing clothing insecurity.  We provide free clothing and shoes to economically disadvantaged students enrolled in the district.  Each semester, students can shop for new or gently used clothing, new undergarments, and new socks.  Annually, students can select one new pair of athletic shoes, a winter coat, a hat, and gloves. Since opening in 2021, Frisco Threads has provided over 56,000 clothing items to nearly 2,000 students!  Last year alone, we provided 783 students with almost 24,000 clothing items, a 45% increase in the number of students served since our opening year.  This school year, we expect over 800 students to shop at Frisco Threads!

Frisco Threads is operated by volunteers and funded through generous clothing and monetary donations from our community.  100% of monies raised directly benefits our students and is used to purchase new socks, new undergarments, new athletic shoes, and other clothing needs.

Thank you for supporting our mission to ensure all Frisco ISD students in need have access to clothing so they can feel confident, comfortable, and dressed for success.  Together, we can make a difference in our community and help our students be prepared to thrive.

The clothes are free, the confidence is priceless.
