The Greater Dallas Choral Society for children and youth (GDCS) is the premier choral ensemble for singers in grades 4–12 throughout Dallas-Fort Worth. GDCS was founded in 2022 to carry forward the legacy and mission of the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas, 1997–2022, which is to give children and youth an experience in choral artistry in a group that reflects the diversity of the Dallas Metroplex.

In its first two seasons under the name GDCS, the chorus has been named  official children’s chorus of The Dallas Opera, collaborated with Dallas area arts groups, and performed in beautiful venues throughout the city. The 2024–2025 season boasts collaborations with The Dallas Opera, the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, the Dallas Winds, performances at the Meyerson Symphony Center and the Winspear Opera House, an appearance at the national convention of the American Choral Directors Association, and the joy of children and youth creating beauty with their voices. GDCS has three children’s choruses for singers in grades 4–8, and two high school choruses for singers in grades 9–12.

The Ensembles Program of GDCS is a tuition based organization of choruses that meets on Monday nights during the school year. Tuition assistance is available for singers based on financial need.

Thank you to our loyal donors who have supported our September and December fundraising campaigns this season. Our final campaign of the season launches this month with a goal of raising $30,000.

GDCS has already secured over $10,000 in matching funds for North Texas Gives to the Arts, which begins Thursday, April 17. We need your support for the remaining $20,000.

Needs

For the final fundraising campaign of the 2024–2025 season, GDCS is in need of support to help us end our fiscal year on strong financial footing. Your gift:

  • Provides support for our annual Free Summer Singing Camp for 80 singers, held in Dallas in June
  • Provides Tuition Assistance for singers with financial need in our Ensembles Program throughout the season
  • Supports professional development opportunities for area music educators as well as discounted tickets to our concerts
  • Provides funding for over 20 artistic staff (principal conductors, pianists, assistant conductors) as well as guest artists
  • Supports our concert season at the world-class Meyerson Symphony Center and other venues around the city
  • Provides much needed general operating support while we wait to become eligible for more municipal, state, and federal grant funding
