About Us
Harbor Village is a day program for adults with disabilities. We are unique because we focus on providing a program for adults who have higher levels of need than most other programs can/will accommodate.
Our clients will not spend their day in front of the television or other electronic devices. Instead, they will participate in activities to the best of their abilities such as music therapy, exercise, life skills goals, and sensory play.
We believe that we must be relentless in our advocacy for this often-silent population as one of the most underserved populations in society.
Our Mission
The mission of Harbor Village is to provide a safe and loving environment for adults with disabilities in Collin County, TX, who need full care (ie: need assistance with most/all daily living activities, such as feeding, toileting, mobility, and communication).
We are committed to:
Our Core Values
We believe that to truly care for someone is to first understand them. Our clients are more than their diagnosis – they are valuable people with their own personalities, wants, and needs. We empower and support our staff to treat each person as a unique individual and to exemplify our core values: compassion, respect, and community.
Our History
As Kevin and Kristin Groves began looking for "what comes next" after high school for their son, Joshua, they struggled to find a day program that would work for him. They needed a program that could accommodate an adult who requires 100% assistance with all daily living activities. The programs they found were too far away, too expensive, and had extensive wait lists. It became abundantly clear that options for adults with a high level of need were very limited in the Collin County area.
As is so often the case, necessity is the mother of invention!
Kevin & Kristin founded Harbor Village to meet not only Joshua's needs, but others in the area who were also looking for a day program for their adult children with a high level of need.
Their vision was to create a day program where adults with a high level of need would be cared for compassionately and could live an abundant life to the best of their abilities. Kevin & Kristin wanted to provide a safe and loving environment that would give families peace of mind, and to build a community to support one another.
Harbor Village operates under the umbrella of Women's Nonprofit Alliance, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations to keep our clients’ fees affordable.
